NATIONAL MEMBERS
In order to qualify as a National Member, a national non-profit organization or a group of national non-profit organizations must be recognized by IAHAIO as promoting the purposes of IAHAIO in each country and must be approved by the affirmative vote of a majority of National Members. IAHAIO accepts a maximum of two national members per country at any one time; if there is only one national member from a country, it has two votes, if there are two national members, each has one vote in the General Assembly. If two national members from a country already exist, then only applications for other membership categories, especially Affiliate Member, can be considered.
Criteria to become and remain National Members (at least 3 of the 5)
Applicants must have a significant record of activities for at least two years before qualifying for membership.
Governing board members from diverse sections of the country
Volunteers and/or staff active in various sections of the country
Activities have a demonstrated effect on national policy
Programs and/or activities functioning in various sections of the country and/or have national impact
Cooperating with other organizations that operate at the local, regional, and/or national level in the country.
Performance of National Members
At each annual meeting, representatives of National Members will report on how they are sharing IAHAIO information with other groups involved in human-animal interactions in their country as a condition of continuing membership. The report will be submitted in writing if the National Member will not have a representative at the annual meeting.
The Membership Committee will review each National Member's activities every six years to determine if the organization is the appropriate national representative in light of its activities and the appearance of other organizations.
If a National Member no longer qualifies for membership or if a National Member slot becomes vacant, any Affiliate Members in that country will be notified and invited to apply for national membership.
Annual Dues: $500 USD
In order to qualify as an Associate Member, a world or international association of related groups must be accepted as such by IAHAIO and must be approved by the affirmative vote of a majority of the National Members. Each Associate Member shall share at least one of the objectives of IAHAIO, and shall have a membership of not less than 100 from at least six different countries, the national organizations of which are National Members of IAHAIO.
Each year the Directors, with input from members, will target those international organizations that we wish to invite as IAHAIO Associate Members. The President will extend the invitation and follow up. The President will explore ways in which both organizations can be represented at each other's conference.
Annual Dues IAHAIO will exchange memberships with Associate Member organizations, rather than charge or pay dues.
In order to qualify as an Affiliate Member, a national or international non-profit organization related to concerns for animal or human well-being must be accepted as such by IAHAIO and must be approved by the affirmative
